Nymphs in Urban Parks

Nymphs are medium to large size butterflies. Their wing colours and patterns are highly complex and variable with ragged edge. Flying speed is high. Less attracted to flowers and prefer other decaying juice.

White-edged Blue Baron Large size. Common and can be seen all year round. Always stays near mango trees, its larval food plant.

Tawny Rajah (Charaxes bernardus) Large size. Common and can be seen all year round. Male is strongly territorial and always attacks other flying butterflies.	Rustic (Cupha erymanthis) Medium size. Very common and can be seen all year round. One of the commonest nymphs in Hong Kong. Slow flyer and seldom stops for long.
Great Egg-fly (Female) (Hypolimnas bolina) Large size. Common and can be seen all year round. Mimics the poisonous Common Indian Crow, but is larger in size and flies faster.	Great Egg-fly (Male) (Hypolimnas bolina) Large size. Common and can be seen all year round. Male has four large striking purple patches on its wings.
White Commodore (Parasarpa dudu) Large size. Uncommon and can be seen all year round. Male is strongly territorial, always staying in high positions to defend its territory.	Map Wing (Cyrestis thyodamas) Medium size. Common and can be seen all year round. Like to stay close to the ground. Named for the map-like markings on the wings.
Red Ring Skirt (Hestina assimilis) Large size. Common and often seen in spring, summer and autumn. Male is strongly territorial, always staying in high positions to defend its territory.
