Let’s Participate in the Corporate Games 2023

p12p13_1In addition to working hard with colleagues in the workplace, you may even team up with them for a game.  Have you ever thought about that?  The Corporate Games, a major sports event organised by the LCSD for employees from the public and private sectors, aims at encouraging the working population to exercise regularly, while fostering team spirit among employees and enhancing a sense of belonging to their organisations through competitions.  Meanwhile, the event can also help promote “Sport for All” by making sports a part of people’s daily lives, in a bid to build a healthy community full of vitality.

This year’s Games will be held between February and October 2023 at various recreation and sports venues across Hong Kong, offering such events as athletics, badminton, basketball, distance run, futsal, snooker, table tennis, tennis, tenpin bowling, volleyball and 11-a-side soccer.  A championship trophy will be awarded to those organisations with the highest points in total from all events for each group.

Route B4: From Tai Au Mun to Hang Hau

The LCSD is refining the video clips featuring 44 distinctively charming hiking routes across Hong Kong under “Hiking Scheme”, with a view to further promoting hiking, a sport suitable for all families.

In addition to providing various information on the transport arrangements, hiking routes, time required and levels of difficulty, the video clips will introduce featured attractions along the routes, relevant historical backgrounds and hiking safety tips.  Meanwhile, geographical information of the routes has been converted into GPX files for public download, allowing hikers to have access of comprehensive information before hitting the road and to enjoy the full fun of hiking.

Official Opening of Two New Sports Centres

Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre and Tung Cheong Street Swimming Pool

The LCSD strives to improve local sports facilities to meet the needs of the public.  Two new sports centres, namely Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre and Sham Shui Po Sports Centre, were put into service last August and September respectively, thereby providing the local residents with a wide range of recreational and sports facilities.

Tung Cheong Street Swimming Pool is the first indoor heated swimming pool in Tai Po District

Located on the ground floor and the third floor of Tai Po Tung Cheong Street Leisure Building, Tung Cheong Street Sports Centre, equipped with such facilities as a multi-purpose arena, activity rooms and an indoor bowling green, is the sixth indoor sports centre in the district.  In addition to the sports centre, Tung Cheong Street Swimming Pool, located on the first floor of the building, was also open for public use in the same month.  Equipped with a training pool, a teaching pool and a Jacuzzi, the Swimming Pool is the first indoor heated swimming pool in the district.  Members of the public can get there on foot from Tai Po Market MTR Station.

Sham Shui Po Sports Centre, the sixth indoor sports centre in the district, is located on the second to fourth floors of Sham Shui Po Leisure and Cultural Building.  It features such facilities as a multi-purpose arena, a table-tennis room, a fitness room and activity rooms.  Members of the public can get there on foot from Nam Cheong MTR Station.

Meanwhile, in designing future sports centres, the LCSD attaches great importance to children’s play spaces.  That helps explain why both of the sports centres are equipped with children’s play rooms, offering children innovative, challenging and interesting play facilities to play with.
