Notice

Opening Arrangements for the Recreation and Sports Facilities of
the Leisure and Cultural Services Department
during the Lunar New Year Holidays

Parks and playgrounds under the LCSD will remain open during the Lunar New Year holidays. The SmartPLAY Internet and mobile app services will also operate as usual throughout the holidays.

Sports centres, various fee-charging land-based facilities, swimming pools and water sports centres will be closed during the first three days of the Lunar New Year (17 to 19 February). Services at gazetted beaches will also be suspended. Stadia and all sports grounds will be closed unless advance bookings have been made.

Holiday camps will be closed during the first three days of the Lunar New Year and lodging will not be provided on Lunar New Year's Eve (16 February).

For the convenience of the public, after the closure during the first two days of the Lunar New Year, 29 sports centres, 20 squash venues, 20 tennis venues, 16 turf pitch venues, 5 bowling greens, Tuen Mun Recreation and Sports Centre and the archery range of Ngau Chi Wan Park will reopen from 19 February with normal opening hours. Please refer to the table attached for details.

With effect from 1 June 2025, Harbour Road Sports Centre’s squash court no. 4 and no. 5 are available for hire as Activity Room. The hire charge of using squash court for other activities is $36 per hour (non-peak period) and $38 per hour (peak period). Concessionary rates are granted for persons with a disability and their minders at all times, and for senior citizens aged 60 and above and full-time students at non-peak period.

The following Players' Guide will be updated with effect from 7 August 2023:

  • The minimum age for using skateboard ground and skatepark is changed from 8 to 5 . Adult supervision is recommended for children players below the age of 12.
  • All players in skatepark must wear a head-protected safety helmet with safety stripes as appropriate while full face helmet is required for freestyle BMX rider when riding in skatepark. Helmets should fit snuggly.
