Held from 22 to 30 November 2024 in Sanya of Hainan Province, the “12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China” (the “NTGEM”), with “As One Family We Thrive, for the One Chinese Dream We Strive” as the slogan, is a major sports event intended to bring together athletes of ethnic minorities across China, in the hope of enhancing their mutual understanding and cultural integration of our nation.
On invitation by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the General Administration of Sport of China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG) sent a delegation of 99 athletes and staff members to participate in 4 events, 3 of which were competitive (shuttlecock, dragon boat and folk martial arts), with the remaining one being the demonstration of dragon dance sport. Besides, the delegation also delivered an on-stage performance at the opening ceremony. This Department was tasked with secretarial duties, while the Hong Kong Sports Institute provided medical services for Hong Kong athletes in Sanya during the NTGEM.
