Memorial Garden

City Hall Memorial Garden

Situated between the High Block and Low Block, the Memorial Garden was built in memory of the soldiers and citizens who died in defence of Hong Kong in the Second World War.  A 12-sided Memorial Shrine prominently stands in the centre of the Garden.  Inside the Shrine is placed a Roll of Honour and plaques listing the name of units which fought in the battle.  Eight Chinese characters denoting the remembrance of the everlasting spirit of the Brave and the Dead are inscribed on the walls. The emblem of the regiment is on the copper gates at the Garden Entrance. Though located in the midst of Central's hectic financial district, the Memorial Garden is able to provide an oasis of peace. Its beautiful setting makes it an ideal venue the Marriage Registry.
