Active Living Charter

Active Living Carnival

The "Active Living Charter" Signatories kept up with the spirit of the Charter in the year of 2001. These organizations promoted personal health and enhanced corporate productivity, ultimately promoting the quality of life.

To celebrate the first anniversary of the Active Living Charter and provide a forum for signatory organizations to share their experience in promoting regular exercise in their own organizations, the Department of Health and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department organized a fun-packed carnival, the Active Living Carnival, at Sha Tin Sports Ground, Yuen Wo Playground and Yuen Wo Road Indoor Recreation Centre in Sha Tin.

Active Living Carnival 1Apart from game booths, participants were also able to enjoy play-ins and demonstrations in rope skipping, sports climbing, indoor rowing, mini-tennis, golf and different ball games. Informative health talks were organized and exhibition panels on health and exercise were also put on display. In addition, to foster a habit of exercising for half-an-hour a day, well illustrated leaflets on simple fitness exercises were distributed to participants. The Director of Health, Dr. Margaret Chan, was invited to be our officiating guest. Also attending the carnival were the Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr. Paul Cheung, and Healthy Exercise Ambassadors Mr. Cham Yick-kai (mountaineering), Mr. Sunny Wong (archery), Miss Sherry Tsai (swimming), Mr. Ng Wei (badminton), Miss Koon Wai-chee (badminton), Mr. Chan Wan-ka (rope skipping) and Mr. Po Tik-san (swimming). About 7,500 participants of all ages enjoyed themselves at the carnival in a great variety of indoor and outdoor sports activities and fun games.
