Surrounded by the sea, Hong Kong is a wonderful place for water sports. In order to provide more opportunities for the general public to enjoy the great fun of water sports activities and to improve their skills in water sports through participation in various training programmes. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has established five water sports centers in the New Territories and Hong Kong Island, namely the Chong Hing Water Sports Centre adjacent to the High Island Reservoir Sai Kung, Stanley Main Beach Water Sports situated at Stanley Main Beach, St. Stephen's Beach Water Sports Centre opposite Stanley Bay, Tai Mei Tuk Water Sports Centre next to Main Dam of Plover Cove Reservoir, Tai Po, and the Jockey Club Wong Shek Water Sports Centre at Wong Shek Pier, Sai Kung. Each year, thousands of people make use of the facilities and attend the training programmes provided by these Centres. The centres are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.. |
