Scheme Overview

Cantonese Opera-cum-Shadow Puppetry for Youngsters
Cantonese opera classes, puppetry and shadow puppet-making classes, showcase activities, exhibition and finale performance will be arranged in the district to cultivate youngsters’ interest in these traditional art forms. The programme will also explore the fusion of Cantonese opera and shadow puppetry onstage.

Body in Time
Dance and movement workshops for the elderly, demonstration showcase, exhibition and finale performance will be arranged in the district to enhance the intergenerational communication between the elderly and the youth. The elderly can develop their physical and mental ability as well as enjoy the joy of creation through dance.

The above two programmes will be rolled out in three stages:

Stage 1: Opening Performance (7 Apr 2019)
The opening performance will include Cantonese opera-cum-shadow puppetry and dance performance to introduce three different types of performing arts to residents in the district.

Stage 2: Workshops, Showcase and Exhibition (Apr 2019 to Mar 2020)
There will be various activities and showcases to provide training and performance opportunities to the elderly and youngsters in the district. These activities can also arouse their interest in Cantonese opera, shadow puppetry or dance.

Stage 3: Joint Rehearsal and Finale Performance (Feb to Mar 2020)
All participants will join the grand finale to celebrate their achievements to the public.

Except the tickets of finale performances, the activities of the scheme are free of charge.
