Children Puppet Musical

Performed in Cantonese

Winter is the season of candies, sharing is the greatest happiness!

In order to represent the Sweetyland to participate in a competition to fight for being the sweetest, all Candies compete, envy and repel each other.  The original peaceful and friendly atmosphere of the Sweetyland suddenly turns out to be revolting.  Being selfish, the Candies gradually lose their sweetness, and they are even being driven away from Sweetyland.  The Sweetyland is in trouble again!  Please come to join us if you want to know what happen to all Candies at last!

Make Friends With Puppets is producing this new puppet musical following the success of the two original puppet theatres Winter in Sweetyland and Woola Jungle II with overwhelming response. The story of Sweetyland III – A Tasty Tale touches the heart and makes one laugh. Together with the original music and interactive video projection, it is certain that the audience will like it.

With post-performance talk on 16.12.2016 (Conducted in Cantonese).

Audiences aged 3 and above are welcome.

The running time of each performance is approximately 70 minutes without intermission.

Founded in 2001, Make Friends With Puppet is one of the most dynamic and active puppet theatre groups in Hong Kong.  Always able to ‘think outside the box’, it has created puppet theatre that is rich in original ideas and presentation formats and has built an impressive repertory since its establishment.  All the productions with different characteristics are well received by audiences at all ages.   Some of the audience favourites include The Paper Princess in Wonderland, The Lovable Scavenger, The Child Kingand Momo’s Fancy Dress

To be original and adventurous has always been the approach taken by Make Friends With Puppet.  Following the highly acclaimed Ah Dull & Little Dragon in 2003, it went on to create Ah Dull & Little Dragon - The Magic WindowLittle FishAmoeba Papaand Amoeba Papa II, four drama productions about single-parent families, told from the angles of children, the mother and the father.  The idea is to explore a variety of contents for the genre of children’s drama.  In 2009, an adaptation of Hemingway’s classic, The Old Man and The Sea, was staged in the hallmark vein of the group, in which puppetry was combined with masks, mime and videography.  They were attempts to expand the possibilities of puppetry in Hong Kong.

The puppet musicals produced by Make Friends With Puppet are also well-received by audience of all ages for the interesting stories and beautiful songs.  Some of these productions include The Iron Scarecrow II - The Last Leaf, The Little Snowman and Sunflower, Winter in Sweetyland and Woola Jungle II.
