Asia+

Message

Hong Kong, deeply rooted in Chinese culture and geographically situated at the heart of Asia, has long been seeing the dynamic fusion of cultures of Asia and other parts of the world.  Under the auspices of the National 14th Five-Year Plan, Hong Kong is taking an all-round approach to develop into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, connecting itself with other parts of Asia and the world by leveraging its own advantages.

This autumn, we are launching “Asia+ Festival” to focus on Asia, and to celebrate the cultural diversity of the continent and Belt and Road regions.  With the support of Consulates and overseas cultural organisations in Hong Kong, the inaugural edition of “Asia+ Festival” will encompass stage performances, exhibitions and an outdoor carnival from over 20 countries to showcase their unique arts and cultures.  To immerse audiences in authentic local arts and cultures, the festival features a broad spectrum of programmes spanning an internationally acclaimed classical pianist in concert, an exhibition displaying ethnic costumes and headwear, a pop musical for all, and an outdoor carnival of songs and dances presented by folk and minority artists in which everyone can join.

“Asia+ Festival” will be a testament to the endless possibilities of cultural collaborations.  I invite you to join us and experience the extraordinary charm of diverse cultural traditions in Hong Kong.

Kevin Yeung, GBS, JP
Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism
