Transcending Space and Time — Early Cinematic Experience of Hong Kong

Following on from the screening programme Transcending Space and Time - Early Cinematic Experience of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Film Archive presents an exhibition of the same title, which opens on March 21 - June 22 2014. With detailed illustration, the exhibition aims to present Hong Kong's early cinema through showcasing documentaries as early as in late 19th century, short films and drama features produced in 1920s to 40s; antique photos and historical relics owned by film pioneers. Using multimedia installations and space manipulation, visitors are guided on a journey of light and shadow to the days of Hong Kong's early moving images.

 

Online Exhibition
In preservation of early motion pictures of Hong Kong, part of this exhibition including invaluable photos, oral history, interviews and film clips have been digitised and uploaded to the free online multi-media platform Hong Kong Memory where everyone can study, at anytime and anywhere, the history of early Hong Kong cinema.
