 Introduction of Brick Carvings

On the wall of the Eastern Gate of the garden, there are two sets of fine figure-themed brick-carving that one must not miss. One of them depicts the 36 heroes from the Water Margin, which is known as one of the four greatest Chinese novels. Written by Shi Nai'an in Yuan Dynasty based on the popular folk tales of the Liang Shan Bo heroes, the story took place at the end of the North Sung Dynasty. The 108 heroes rose up in Liang Shan Bo and did lots of good deeds to help the poor by robbing the heartless rich. Among the most popular characters in the great book are Sung Jiang (nicknamed Timely Rain), Lin Chong (nicknamed Panther Head), Lu Zhishen (nicknamed Tattooed Monk), Li Kui (nicknamed Black Whirlwind) and Wu Song (nicknamed Pilgrim).

The other brick carving depicts the Eight Immortals crossing the sea. The Eight Immortals are Cao Guojiu, Li Tieguai, Lü Dongbin, He Xiangu, Lan Caihe, Zhang Guolao and Han Xiangzi, all having their own magical instruments which are castanets, calabash, fan, sword, lotus, flower basket, yugu (a percussion instrument made of bamboo barrel) and dongxiao (a vertical bamboo flute) respectively.

 Qualiwalk Trails

The Park (Stage III) has 2 qualiwalk trails, i.e., the red one and the green one, which are approximately 600 metres and 1000 metres respectively. The benefits of walking include: strengthening cardiac function, promoting circulation, improving the function of lung and respiratory system, reducing lipid and cholesterol, controlling weight, regulating blood pressure, relieving stress and improving endocrine system, etc. "Qualiwalk" refers to walking exercise performed with correct posture and in moderate amount. Pick your trails by referring to the signs on the lamppost on the way. We suggest that you may complete a walk for 1.6 km within 20 minutes. You should walk for at least 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week. For details of "qualiwalk", please visit the following webpage: http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/healthy/qualiwalk.html
