An evergreen tree, Smooth Wrightia is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guanzhou and Yunnan, China and is also found in countries such as Australia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. 

Smooth Wrightia has dark grey bark and brownish branchlets with lenticels.  Its dense foliage and striking appearance render it an ideal choice for garden, lawn and roadside planting.  When its leaves are soaked in water, blue dye can be derived which is commonly used for dyeing in the Shiwandashan area of Guangxi.

Over 100 years old, this historic tree has a height of 12 m, a crown spread of 14 m and a DBH of 766 mm.
