Innovative Music-making Journey to China: MO x e-Orch Concert
12 July 2025 (Sat) 7:30pm
Auditorium, Kwai Tsing Theatre
A programme of the “Chinese Culture Festival 2025” and the “Chinese Culture Promotion Series”
Four digital music orchestras (e-Orchs) formed by students participating in the training programme from the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Primary School, Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) Primary School, Buddhist Chan Wing Kan Memorial School and St. Rose of Lima's School, will showcase their respective original collaborative multimedia works at the concert. They will also collaborate with the Chinese music and string ensembles of the Music Office to perform a variety of original and arranged works. University students from the e-Orch@EdUHK Music Innovation and Design Lab will also be invited to present their original works at the concert in a performance combining music and technology.
Highlights include world premieres of local composers Wat Nga-man's "Lion Dance" and Lau Hiu-lam's "The Guardians of The Underground Empire", which are commissioned by the Music Office with sponsorship from the CASH Music Fund. Other highlights include re-arrangements of Ren Guang’s "Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon" and traditional music "Song of the Homebound Fishermen " by Lau and Wat respectively.
The concert is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
