The Hong Kong Velodrome Park in Tsueng Kwan O is next to the first-ever international competition-standard indoor cycling venue in Hong Kong. It was planned and built in 2010-13, and opened to the public in 2014. An open call for proposals on the theme of sport had earlier been launched in 2012 to collect ideas of outdoor public artworks from local and overseas artists that would stimulate public interest in sport and embellish the environment of the Hong Kong Velodrome Park after its establishment. The three public artwork proposals selected by the adjudication panel were commissioned and installed in the park from mid 2014 through early 2015 respectively. The public now have the opportunities to appreciate these public artworks while engaging in the leisure activities with the recreational and sports facilities.
