After being inspired by a friend whose neighbor was stabbed to death in a robbery, Stanley Kwan passed his ideas to writer Chiu Kang-chien, who crafted this hypnotic murder mystery-romance about the son of a wealthy businessman (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) and his relationships with a model (Irene Wan) and an actress (Elaine Jin). Through the perspective of a detective (Chow Yun-fat), we come to see how the film’s title reflects the characters’ attitude towards love and lust.

This film is screened with Still Love You After All These, a revealing autobiographical documentary about Kwan’s thoughts on identity and love in the face of the 1997 Handover.
