Water Sports Centres Activities

Windsurfing is a sport of fun and enjoyment. Once you can master the basic skills after successfully completing the basic training course, you will be able to do windsurfing on your own. You will enjoy the freedom when gliding on the surface of water and the romance of "flying" alongside with seagulls. It will also give you lots of excitement and challenge. When you are blasting on the water, the speed will pick up with the wind and the feeling is so wonderful that you cannot beat it. You may even win a "hurrah" from the spectators on the shore when you finish a smooth yet difficult manoeuvre. Are you ready to take the enjoyment and challenge from windsurfing? The 5 Water Sports Centres of LCSD have organised a series of windsurfing training programmes ranging from introductory training to advanced training, so as to enable you to enrich your leisure time, explore your potential and set your own target in this respect.

Basic Windsurfing Training (2-day course)

This course is specially designed to offer you a safe, uncomplicated and enjoyable start to the sport of windsurfing. Our fully-qualified instructors will guide you through the basic skills and theories, including launching, start and landing, sailing techniques and stance, manoeuvres, rigging, self-rescue techniques, sailing theories and safety codes. After passing the assessment, you may apply the Basic Windsurfing Award or Competency Record and hire a windsurfing board for self-practice.

Basic Windsurfing Clinic (2-day course)

More practices are the second step for every novice windsurfer who wants to improve his / her skills. In this clinic, you will learn how to do tacking and gybing faster. It is also suitable for those who have left the sport for a long time and would like to refresh their skills.

Intermediate Windsurfing Training (2-day course)

Once you are competent in doing windsurfing in all directions in light winds, the intermediate course is the key to open the door of windsurfing paradise. In this course, you will learn how to sail in stronger winds with more advanced techniques, stance, manoeuvres and sail rigging, correct harness and harness line adjustment, basic foot strap technique and mast track adjustment. With more knowledge about the sailing theories, you will be able to sail the board in various conditions.

Intermediate Windsurfing Clinic (1-day course)

When you have attained the Intermediate Windsurfing award, you may encounter difficulties during practices or you have left the sport for a long time and wish to refresh and further improve your skills before participating other higher level courses. This clinic will focus on strengthening your intermediate skills and familiarity of sail rigging, correct harness and harness line adjustment, basic foot strap technique and mast track adjustment.

Windsurfing Trip (1-day course)

Windsurfing along the coastal line, enjoy the wild life and wild environment at the beautiful beaches and islands. You can go anywhere without the limitations of other modes of traffic.

Introduction to Short Board (2-day course)

This course is specially designed for windsurfing fanatics who are capable of windsurfing under Beaufort Force 3 or above. You will learn how to do water start, carve gybe, how to make good use of all features of a fun board and high performance rig to improve your performance in strong wind. You can hire a fun board after attaining this competency record for self-practice.

Windsurfing Race Training (2-day course)

In this course, you will learn to use high performance race boards and the knowledge about windsurfing races. The training includes racing techniques, racing signals, sail and rig tuning and racing rules. After completing the course and attained the training attendance record, you can hire the windsurfing race board for self-practice.

Advanced Windsurfing Training (2-day course)

Specially designed for those who are capable of windsurfing under Beaufort Force 3 or above. You will learn all practical skills and theories to enhance your windsurfing competency. This course covers the techniques of beach start, water start, sailing stance, rig tuning and carve gybe. For obtaining the Advanced Windsurfing Award, you are required to show the instructor your competence in manoeuvring a windsurfing board under Beaufort Force 4 or above condition.

Windsurfing Race Clinic (1-day course)

This clinic is designed for those who want to take part in windsurfing competitions. It covers all basic racing rules and necessary skills such as starting, mark rounding and pumping through mock competition. You will also have the chance to race with other trainees in the course.

Short Board Training (2-day course)

Funboarding is of great fun. But, can't get that carve gybe? Have problems when planning and water-start? Frustrated funboarder? If the answers are YES, then this course can help solve these problems. In our two-day course, you'll receive committed instruction on all aspects of short-board sailing. Experienced instructors will use simulations, 'on-the-water' coaching and video feedback to help you realize your potential so as to give you necessary coaching to complete transitions and overcome technical barriers in windsurfing.

Introduction to Wave Board (2-day course)

In this course, you will learn the skills to manoeuvre the wave board, including how to launch the board, water start, carve gybe at a high speed and the use of harness. High performance sail, rigging and the choice of wave board will be introduced. After completion of the course, you can acquire the sufficient knowledge and skills to manoeuvre this board. Once you have completed the Introduction to Wave Board with 100% attendance, you can join the Wave Board Clinic.

Wave Board Clinic (1-day course)

When you have completed the Introduction to Wave Board, you have already got a certain extent of knowledge and skills to manoeuvre the wave board. Of course, you may wish to further improve your skills and learning. This clinic will focus on strengthening your skills in tacking and carve gybing at a high speed and an efficient stance at different point of sailing. You may hire the wave board for self-practice after attained the wave board clinic attendance record.

Introduction to RS:X (2-day course)

In this course, you will learn the skills to manoeuvre the RS:X board, including sailing techniques, stances, manoeuvres, rigging and the use of harness. Special design of RS:X sail and board and rigging techniques will be introduced thoroughly. After completion of the course, you can acquire the sufficient knowledge and skills to rig and manoeuvre this board. Once you have completed the Introduction to RS:X with 100% attendance, you can join the RS:X Board Clinic.

RS: X Clinic (1-day course)

When you have completed the Introduction to RS:X, you have already got a certain extent of knowledge and skill to manoeuvre the RS:X board. Of course, you may wish to further improve your skills and learning. This clinic will focus on strengthening your skills in adjusting the sail and board and an efficient stance at different point of sailing. You can hire the RS:X board for self-practice after attained the RS:X clinic attendance record.

Windsurfing Open Sea Clinic (2-day course)

This clinic introduces the theoretical and practical aspects of the Open Sea Award syllabus. This award is the basic requirement for being a basic windsurfing instructor. No matter whether you wish to be an instructor or not, passing the Windsurfing Open Sea Award assessment is recognition of your personal skills.

Windsurfing Advanced Trip (1-day course)

You will enjoy the freedom when gliding on the surface of water and the romance of "flying" alongside with seagulls. When you are blasting on the water, the speed will pick up with the wind and the feeling is so wonderful that you cannot beat it. Trust you will enjoy windsurfing with the windsurfing lovers!
