Kam (Pak Yin) and Hoi (Lee Ching) are lovers but when Kam’s father (Lee Pang-fei) accidentally kills his opponent in a brawl, Hoi decided to turn himself in but in the process he is shot by the police and fall into the sea and disappear. Eventually Kam’s father was arrested, leaving Kam and her family in dire situation. It was Shek (Ng Cho-fan), Hoi’s best friend, who comes to the rescue. In time he falls in love with Kam, but just when they decide to get married, the hot-tempered Hoi reappeared and caused a destructive love storm. The script co-written by Cheng Kang and Ng Dan is not only consistently solid, revealing the shocking intimacies of hate, but also making excellent use of the sea to show how unpredictability in life keep manipulating people and test their bottom lines for love, friendship and family. The film, shot on location in Cheung Chau, remains a rare piece of work portraying the simple lifeworld of a fishing village in Hong Kong.
