Dance with the Dragon is a Wong Jing comedy, in which characters go through dramatic turns of events while generating hilarious jests and farces. The Cinderella story of a poor girl landing a rich man features upscale scenes in the boardroom and the ball room as well as downscale moments in rural Hong Kong, the latter including a The Prince and the Pauper take on illegal immigrants. Deanie Ip won the prize for Best Supporting Actress in the Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance in this film.
