For Pak Yan’s film debut, director/co-star Lo Dun recruited the help of seasoned actress Wong Man-lei for additional star power. Wong plays a greedy woman who convinces her niece Leung Kit-bing (Pak Yan) to pose as a rich heiress in order to woo Chan Tin-lei (Chow Chung), a young company employee that she mistakenly assumes to be the manager of the firm. Over the course of the two-way scam, Leung and Chan really come to fall in love with each other. As the devil on Leung’s shoulder, Wong shows of f her impeccable comic timing and shows her exceptional talent in the genre.

Part of the omnibus film Blood Sisters , This Wonderful Life depicts the feud that breaks out between a greedy woman (Wong Man-lei) and her sister (Lai Cheuk-cheuk) over inheritance and insurance money when they mistakenly think their father (Lo Dun) has died. However, what they don’t know is that their father has simply passed out from alcohol. The brilliance in Wong’s performance lies in her ability to turn greed, jealousy and a sharp tongue into comic gold.
