Embark on an Artistic Journey to Celebrate Yuen Long Theatre's Sliver Jubilee!
Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Yuen Long Theatre at our Performing Arts Fun Day 2025! On Sunday, 18 May 2025, the Theatre will host a day of dazzling performances, including dance, music and Cantonese Opera. Participate in interactive workshops to experience the charm of various performing arts. Take a behind-the-scenes stage tour to explore areas rarely open to the public and discover the magic of theatre operation. Enjoy parent-child storytelling sessions and a book display at the Foyer to spread the joy of reading and bring a relaxing afternoon to all.

A state-of-the-art stage automation system was installed at the Auditorium of Yuen Long Theatre in 2023. The system includes computerised flying bars as well as automated stage wagon and revolve, which can be managed by one single control panel. In the stage tour, there will be demonstrations on the use of the stage automation system and other equipment to give participants a glimpse of the magic behind the scenes.

Exhibition on 25th Anniversary of Yuen Long Theatre

Made up of 4 themes, including “Completing & Opening”, “Then & Now”, “The Fabulous 25 Years” & “Our Partners”. The exhibition introduces the background and history of Yuen Long Theatre while showcasing its transformations and highlights at the same time.

The Handbell Team of Christian Alliance S.Y. Yeh Memorial Primary School will perform a series of classic nursery rhymes using handbells. Participants will have the opportunity to actually play the handbells themselves and join in to perform all-time favourite nursery rhymes.

Cantonese Opera Demonstration Workshop

The Yuen Long District Arts Committee Dance Group will give a demonstration of tambourine dance. Participants will be guided through its basic steps and rhythms, appreciate its unique groove, and embark on a wonderful journey into dance.

In the distinctive atmosphere of the Bamboo Courtyard, members of the Yuen Long Gu Zheng Association will give three unique guzheng performances.
The performance location will change from the Bamboo Courtyard to the Lecture Room in the event of unfavourable weather conditions.

Under the guidance of the tutor from the Yuen Long Gu Zheng Association, participants will not only learn the basics of the guzheng, but also have a chance to play the instrument themselves and feel the enchanting sounds and pleasure it brings.

Programme Arrangements
*All tickets will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis at the Enquiry Counter of Yuen Long Theatre from 12 noon on the day of the event.
- Free admission by ticket with free seating. Each ticket admits one person only (no ticket is required for “Exhibition on 25th Anniversary of Yuen Long Theatre” & “Book Display”).
- Each person is allowed up to 2 tickets each time.
- Tickets will become invalid if the ticket holders fail to show up within 5 minutes after the designated session has begun, and their places will be allocated to other persons waiting at the venue.
- In the event of any dispute regarding ticket distribution and seating arrangements, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s decision shall be final and conclusive.
- All programmes are suitable for ages 3 and above unless otherwise specified.
The presenter reserves the right to change the programme and substitute a performer should unavoidable circumstances make it necessary. The contents of the programmes do not represent the views of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
