Foxtail Palm is a tree that can grow up to 9 m tall. The surface of its trunk is smooth with prominent leaf scar rings. New leaves are emerald green, while old leaves are dark green. The unipinnately compound leaf has long, linear leaflets that occur in clusters on the rachis and grow at different angles. The leaf resembles a fox’s tail, hence the common name of the tree. The elliptic fruits are 5 cm long and orange-red when ripe.
