Weeping Willow is a deciduous tree that can grow to a height of 10 m, slender and pendulous branches. The young shoots, sparsely covered with silky hairs, are soon glabrous. The leaves are lanceolate or linear-lanceolate with acuminate apices and serrulate or entire margins. The short-stalked catkins bloom before or when the leaves open. The tree flowers from March to April and fruits from April to May.
