Lysidice is a small tree grown in Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan, China and also in Vietnam, but rare in Hong Kong. The tree mostly grows at altitudes below 500 m and is usually found in thickets, on slopes and by roads and streams in valleys.
Its phloem fibres can be used as a substitute for linen. With a lush growth of gorgeous flowers, Lysidice is perfect in gardens for beautification and ornamental purposes.
This Lysidice is 18 m tall with a crown spread of 15 m and a DBH of 940 mm. It is around 100 years old with good health.
