Conservation Status Endangered. Listed under Appendix II of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
Behaviour Arboreal. Diurnal. Mate for life, living in small monogamous groups. Very agile and capable of leaping as much as 10 metres between branches. Locally known as "flying monkeys". There is a striking colour difference between males and females. Such pronounced sexual dichromatism is rare in primates.
Diet Fruit, honey, flowers and small animals.
