Alumni of Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra interviewed by RTHK Radio 4 “Arts News”
Conductor of the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra (HKYCO), alumnus and Senior Music Officer of the Music Office’s Chinese Music Section Mr Kwok Kin-ming, and fellow HKYCO alumnus Mr Koo Shing-fai, were interviewed by RTHK Radio 4 programme “Arts News” for the HKYCO Annual Concert “United We Go” happening in February 2024.
During the interview, Mr Koo Shing-fai mentioned memories from his time in HKYCO since the 1980s for more than ten years, including biennial overseas tours in which HKYCO visited Singapore, Australia, and North America, etc., and through these his fellow orchestral members and he had cultivated a very strong bonding. He also shared his feelings when he joined recent rehearsals for the “United We Go” celebrative concert. Mr Kwok Kin-ming also shared concepts of the concert’s curation and repertoire, how preparation works had been going, and being both alumnus and conductor, how he had witnessed generations of aspiring musicians being cultivated by HKYCO while the concert would be the moment they all could gather.
