2018 Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band Hamamatsu Tour

Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band won wide acclaims at the 20th Conference of the Asia and Pacific Band Directors' Association (APBDA) in Hamamatsu, Japan

As part of the Music Office's International Youth Music Exchange Programme, the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band (HKYSB) was led by conductor and Senior Music Officer of the Music Office Pak Wing-heng to participate in the 20th Conference of the Asia and Pacific Band Directors' Association (APBDA), Hamamatsu in July this year.

At first, the HKYSB visited Tokyo for a music exchange with the Wind Orchestra of the Saitama Prefectural Shiraoka High School and jointly performed with the Wind Orchestra in the baseball field. The HKYSB then participated in the APBDA, Hamamatsu and staged two performances, one of which was conducted by the renowned Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa, featuring the famous Japanese saxophonist Makoto Asari. During the tour, the HKYSB members also visited various cultural sites, including Yamaha Factory and the Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments.
