2018 Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra Singapore Tour

The Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra's rendition and music exchange won high acclaim in Singapore !

Under the Music Office's International Youth Music Exchange Programme, 84 members of the Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra visited Singapore in December 2018. Led by Tsui Ying-fai, conductor and Senior Music Officer of the Music Office, the Orchestra gave performances and had music exchange with some of the local youth music groups in Singapore.

The joint concert Together with the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra was the highlight of this tour. Staged at the SCO Concert Hall, the performance was well-received with a full house attendance. During its stay in Singapore, the Orchestra also conducted exchange with The Purple Symphony, Resonance Sheng Ensemble and Dicapella Dizi Ensemble, as well as flash mob performances at Sentosa. The repertoire played by the Orchestra included full orchestral works Commander Mu Guiying and Admiral of the Seven Seas - The Vow; the all-time pipa favourite piece Dance of the Yi's; traditional wind and percussion music Chit-chat; dizi ensemble work Wu Bangzi and more, showcasing the rich and diversified culture of Hong Kong to our friends and audiences in Singapore.
