Yiu Song-lam (oboe)

Born in Hong Kong, Yiu graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) and was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship to study at the Queensland Conservatorium in Australia, the Royal Academy of Music in London UK, the Rotterdam Conservatorium in Holland and the Köln Musikhochschule in Germany, where he was awarded the Diplom der Künstlerischen Abschlußprüfung with distinction. Yiu has participated in International festivals worldwide, such as in Italy, France, Germany, Canada, USA, Spain and Salzburg in Austria. He has also appeared as chamber musician and soloist with different orchestras and ensembles in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Asia and Europe. He has been invited to perform with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner on their Hong Kong tour and has also performed with the London Virtuosi on their Spain tour.

Yiu has given masterclasses regularly at the Beijing Central Conservatory, the Shanghai Conservatory, the Guangzhou Xinghai Conservatory, the Xi'an Conservatory, the Singapore National University Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, the National Chiayi University in Taiwan, the Vietnam Ho Chi Ming City Conservatory, the Chung Ang University in Korea, the Lyon Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in France, the Stuttgart Musikhochschule and the Leipzig Musikhochschule in Germany. Yiu also served as an adjudicator for the prestigious Muri International Oboe Competition in Switzerland, the renowned Gillet International oboe competition at the 2015 International Double Reed Society Conference in Tokyo, Japan and the 13th Concours International Musique De Chambre de Lyon in France in 2017.

Yiu is currently the Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion at the HKAPA. He is also the founder and the Artistic Director of Hong Kong Wind Kamerata and the founding board member of the Asian Double Reed Association. He is the honorary artists in residence of The Education University of Hong Kong, a visiting professor of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and has been elected Associate of the Royal Academy of music for his achievements and contribution to music.

Choy Kwok-tin (clarinet)

Choy Kwok-tin started learning clarinet at the age of 12, under the guidance of Norman Foster. He later entered the Hong Kong Conservatory of Music (former The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts), where he studied with Daniel Silver. In 1985 he furthered his pursuit of music at the Royal College of Music under John McCaw, the Principal Clarinet of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London.

After returning from UK he was engaged as clarinetist in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for the season 1987/88. He is one of the founding members of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in which he was the Principal Clarinet from 1990 to 2006.

Choy has collaborated with different orchestras as soloist such as Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Macau Chamber Orchestra. He is one of the founding members of "Les Six" and "Hong Kong Wind Kamerata". Besides, he is very active as a chamber musician and soloist of numerous local and overseas festivals, such as the Musicarama Contemporary Music Festival and the International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM) World Music Days. He has been very active in the concert halls of Hong Kong as well as in Macau, Japan, France, Poland, Switzerland and Lithuania.

Choy is now teaching Clarinet and Saxophone at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong Music Institute. He is an active band director and has been invited several times to hold master classes and serve as adjudicator in the Macau Youth Music Competition. For the past few years, he has been putting efforts in the cooperation with local composers for commission of new works for schools' band training. In 2012-2016, he was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Band Directors Association. He is currently Chairman of Hong Kong International Single Reed Association.

Kenny Chen (horn)

Chen first learned the horn in 1978 through the Instrumental Music Training Scheme of the Music Office. Chen was graduated in 1988 at Hong Kong Arts for Performing Arts School of Music. From 1989 to 2006, he was the Assistant Principal Horn in National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan. During those years in Taiwan Chen was actively engaged in chamber music performance with many different groups, and devoted lots of time in teaching.

In 1991, Chen joined the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo and since 1995; he became the Orchestra Manager of this festival. In 2006, Chen decided to step down as a professional horn player and took up the full time position as the Manager of Pacific Music Festival until 2010. Chen then served as a Senior Manager of Kajimoto Music Management in Tokyo. From 2012 to 2014, he worked with Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa as a Chief Manager.

Chen is currently the Director of Operations of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
