Born in Honolulu, violinist Dr. Patrick Yim graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music (US), and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from New York Stony Brook University (US). He has performed at venues as a soloist, chamber and orchestra musician throughout the world including the Carnegie Hall (US), the David Geffen Hall (New York, US), the Severance Hall (Cleveland, US), the Orchestra Hall (Chicago, US), Seoul Arts Center (South Korea), the Musikverein (Vienna, Austria), the Harpa Concert Hall (Reykjavík, Iceland), Teatro alla Scala (Milan, Italy), and the Hong Kong City Hall.

Yim has also collaborated with chamber ensembles of various origins, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Juilliard, the Emerson, the Pacifica, the Ying and St. Lawrence Quartets, The Cleveland Orchestra and New York Philharmonic.

Yim is currently Assistant Professor in the Music Department of the Hong Kong Baptist University, teaching violin and chamber violin in numerous institutions, and hosting masterclasses around the globe. He is currently recording a CD themed American music for Naxos.

Born in Taiwan, Lee Meng-hsueh graduated from the Chinese Music Department of the Tainan University of the Arts with a Master’s degree cum laude in 2013, majoring in yangqin under Hsieh Chung-Hsin. During her studies, she was a multiple scholarship holder for consecutive years, being awarded for her outstanding academic performance. She was a former member of the Taiwan Yan-Qin Orchestra, and a guest member of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra for their subscription concert seasons. She joined the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra in 2016.

Lee came first in the Adult Section of the Instrumental Competition of the Chinese Music Association of Taiwan in 2010, and won the Popularity Award in the Taipei Chinese Instrumental International Yangqin Competition organized by the Taipei Chinese Orchestra in 2014.

Her performance of Yan River Capriccio in the ‘Debut Revisited – HKCO 40th Anniversary Concert’ in 2017 obtained a lot of critical acclaim. She is recognized for her rich performing experience, diversity as a musician, technical virtuosity, and insightful, elegant yet robust playing. She has given many solo recitals in Taipei, Apsara Fantasy for yangqin and percussion is a work she commissioned Simon Kong Su Leong to compose for her.

Lee has performed several concertos, such as Tianshan Love Song, Dragon Boat, Trilogy of Horses, Girl from Kroran and Rhapsody. She recorded for the original soundtrack of the film The Assassin in The Dance of Huji, as well as the jazz group, Bazaar Mideast Jazz, for the album of The Persian Infusion.

Lee is currently Yangqin Principal of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra.

Wong Chi-chung studied Chinese Huqin Performance and Western Orchestral Conducting with Tong Leung-tak and Yip Wing-sie respectively. He received the Advanced Diploma, Professional Diploma, B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong successively.

Wong has performed in many places such as Italy, France, Australia, the US, Poland, Singapore and Taiwan. Being an active performer in Hong Kong, he was invited by the Radio Television Hong Kong to perform for the “Young Music Makers” Huqin solo recital, and served as conductor in many local performances including the “Local Composers’ Works Concert” and the “International Contemporary Music Festival - Musicarama”. Recently, he has been invited by the Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble to be the guest conductor of several highly acclaimed concerts.

Wong joined the “Chinese Music Virtuosi” in 1997 and participated in numerous concerts presented by the Hong Kong Arts Festival, Le French May, Musicus Fest and Hong Kong Composers’ Guild etc. He has collaborated with numerous local and overseas orchestras. He is currently a part-time lecturer at the Hong Kong University and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
