The “Music for the Millions”concert is a regular programme of the Music Office with the objective to promote an interest in music among young people through an entertaining and educational music programme. In 1978, Mr. Joseph Koo wrote a melody for the concert and the former Music Office staff then wrote the lyrics to introduce the mission and work of the Music Office. The melody was subsequently arranged in different versions for performance by the Chinese, String and Wind ensembles and the orchestras. Since then, the song has been performed regularly in the “Music for the Millions”concerts and various activities of the Music Office as a symbol of the office.
