International Arts Carnival

The annual summer festival International Arts Carnival is a tailor-made arts festival for children and their families. Featuring various groups of outstanding overseas and local artists each year, the Carnival presents fun-filled cultural programmes with unlimited intelligence, which covering music, drama, puppetry, dance, acrobatics and multimedia theatre to widen audience’s artistic vision and induce children’s infinite imagination. The Carnival lines up a wide variety of extension activities on offer including workshops, backstage tours and exhibitions. It also includes parent-child activities organised by LCSD-managed museums and libraries over summer.

In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, the International Arts Carnival (IAC) scheduled to be held from July to August originally has been cancelled. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department organises the IAC annually, inviting renowned arts groups from overseas to come to Hong Kong to offer audiences high-quality performing arts programmes in conjunction with local artists. Nine arts groups from overseas have been invited to perform in Hong Kong this year. Due to the outbreak of the disease and numerous uncertainties, the LCSD and participating arts groups/agents reached a consensus on cancellation of the festival this year. To continue bringing quality and educational family programmes, IAC will invite local artists to create specially designed online activities targeted at families and children. It is hoped that this arrangement could offer local artists an alternative platform to continue their creative works, while audiences of all ages staying at home could enjoy fun-filled and educational online activities that are offered free of charge. LCSD will announce details of the online activities later on www.hkiac.gov.hk and IAC’s Facebook. For enquiries, please email fo@lcsd.gov.hk or call 2370 1044 during office hours.

New Vision Arts Festival

First founded in 2002, the biennial New Vision Arts Festival will become an annual event starting from its 10th edition in 2020. We at the Festival will continue to push boundaries across different cultures, disciplines and regions, introducing to Hong Kong audiences pioneering, trendsetting and groundbreaking performing arts from around the world. Apart from broadening viewers’ horizons, our aim is to open people’s minds as well to new possibilities in everyday life. We are also committed to fostering exchange and collaboration between local and overseas artists, nurturing new talents, commissioning new works, and bringing local productions onto the global stage.

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and numerous uncertainties, we have taken the disappointing decision to cancel the NVAF this year. To continue NVAF’s mission to facilitate innovative artistic creation and international cultural exchange, a new platform entitled “(Re)New Vision” will be created from October to November to showcase newly commissioned online and on-site works by renowned local and overseas artists. Details of “(Re)New Vision” will be announced on the website www.newvisionfestival.gov.hk, Facebook and Instagram, please stay tune! For enquiries, please email fo@lcsd.gov.hk or call 2370 1044 during office hours.
