2019-20 Colourful Year of Carnivals

 

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is bringing you a whole year of colourful carnivals, including Mid-Autumn & Lunar New Year Lantern Carnivals, the brand new performing arts scheme Tao Arts, carnivals celebrating various communities and ethnicities, the cool Summer Fun Party for the whole family, etc. Let’s enjoy all these arts carnivals with your family and friends in the midst of busy city life.

Tao Arts Sai Kung - Community Arts Scheme
To further promote arts development and enhance artistic ambience in the community, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Sai Kung District Council collaborate with Sai Kung Cultural Centre and Haven of Hope Christian Service to launch a new Community Arts Scheme in 2019-20. The Scheme encourages local participation in developing their own project while promoting performing arts in their community through sustained and enhanced activities.

Tao Arts Wan Chai - Community Arts Scheme: Cantonese Opera-cum-Shadow Puppetry for Youngsters
In addition to Cantonese opera, puppetry and shadow puppet-making classes, showcase activities and finale performance will be arranged in the district to cultivate youngsters’ interest in these traditional art forms. The scheme will also explore the fusion of Cantonese Opera and shadow puppetry onstage.

A large-scale lantern and light installation curated by a renowned local artist in collaboration with the intangible cultural heritage bearers from Foshan to showcase the traditional paper crafting from a modern perspective for the local community and visitors to enjoy.
