Scientific Literacy of the Revolutionist Dr Sun Yat-sen (1887-1911)

Structured around the archives of the College of Medicine for Chinese, Hongkong, the speaker will outline the scientific literacy of Dr Sun Yat-sen with the help of the sources related to the clinic and pharmacy he founded in Macau, the medical works he translated in London and the maps he drew.

Marriage Advertisements: The Romantic Life of Republican Women

Based on the marriage advertisements published in newspapers in the Republican period, the speaker will take an in-depth look at social relationships, the reasons for these advertisements, the marital conditions experienced by wives and concepts of romance among women in this era to show the changes that women's lives underwent after the revolution.
