If you had looked up at the sky yesterday night, you definitely wouldn't miss the supermoon shining above us.

When compared to the supermoon we saw yesterday, the "minimoon" in January this year (when it was farthest away from us) was 14% and 30% smaller in apparent diameter and apparent area respectively. With the size about one-third larger, the supermoon appeared brighter and larger to unaided eye.

Missed the supermoon yesterday? No worries! Supermoon isn't rare. The next supermoon will take place on 2 August and 31 August 2023. Since there will be two full moons in August 2023, some people call the second one a "blue moon".
