As the Astropark is located behind the Pak Tam Chung Barrier within the High Island Reservoir areas, applications have to be made to the Water Supplies Department (WSD) and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) before coaches could reach the Astropark.
Applicants to the WSD for accessing Sai Kung Man Yee Road to reach the Astropark by coaches should note that only schools or non-profit making organizations will be considered. A permit quota system applies with restrictions on the size of the coaches. Application details can be found in the WSD website or through the enquiry (Tel: 2829 4718) of the Water Supplies Department.
Applicants to the AFCD for entering the Pak Tam Chung Barrier by coaches should also be aware that a quota system applies. Application should be made on behalf of schools / organizations. Application by individuals will not be accepted. Application details can be found in the AFCD website or through the enquiry (Tel: 3129 3056) of the Sai Kung Country Park Visitor Centre of AFCD.
After obtaining the permits from the Water Supplies Department and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, visitors may take coaches to reach the Astropark directly. The opening hours of the Astropark are 24 hours daily. However, the time of the coaches entering the Barrier should be between 9am and 4:30pm.
Without the need for applying any permits, coaches can park at the Pak Tam Chung car park. Visitors can then walk for about 1.5 hours or take a taxi ride for 15 minutes to reach the Astropark.
