Exhibition and Talks on Intangible Cultural Heritage of Gansu
| (Programme of "Genesis and Spirit: A Showcase of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Gansu") Dates: 5 – 21 June 2015 Venue: Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong Central Library Presented by the Ministry of Culture, People's Republic of China and the Home Affairs Bureau, the Hong Kong SAR Government Organised by the Department of Culture, Gansu Province and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong SAR Government The exhibition is arranged into 46 components under four themes, which includes "Exploitation of the Works of Nature", "The Beginning of Civilisation", "Stylistic Silk Road" and "The Heritage of Gansu". A number of bearers on the National and Provincial representative lists of intangible cultural heritages are invited to take part in the exhibition and to perform live demonstration in Hong Kong. These include the bearers of the production techniques of Tao Yan (Inkstones); luminous goblet carving; Linxia brick carving; embroidery and needlework of Qingyang fragrance pouches; the arts of the suona horn; paper cutting of Qingyang; ethnic costumes of Yugur; Snow Mountain Mongolian costumes; Tibetan thangkas of Gannan; Lanzhou gourd carving; folk songs of Longdong; clay modelling techniques of Zhulan Zhai Village; paper woven pictures and paper cutting of Pingliang, etc. The public could definitely deepen their knowledge about the intangible cultural heritage of Gansu. Exhibits with a rich regional cultural character of Gansu are also put on display.
