"Fun in ICH" Series
Online Guided Tour – Sam Tung Uk in Hakka Dialect
Sam Tung Uk Village in Tsuen Wan, now revitalised as Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Centre, was originally a 200-year-old Hakka walled village. Along with its well-preserved traditional architecture, the ICH Centre showcases the lifestyle of a rural village in the old days. For two weeks in a row, in this bilingual online guided tour (Cantonese and Hakka dialects), linguist Professor Lau Chun-fat will take visitors on a tour of this Hakka walled village to introduce the history and architectural features of Sam Tung Uk and various aspects of Hakka living culture, like food and festive customs, as well as enhance the understanding of the Hakka dialect as a Hong Kong ICH Item.
