The 12th Inter-school Competition of Project Learning on Hong Kong's History and Culture

Theme
At Home in Hong Kong: Stories of Chinese Immigrants over Hundred Years

Home is where the heart is. Hong Kong has always experienced a busy flow of people entering and leaving the territory, and the past century has seen countless people migrate to Hong Kong from all over mainland China, with most of them later making the city their home. These immigrants – and their descendants – have constantly striven to make a living in Hong Kong and, as they have settled and also succeeded in business and industry, they have brought with them the customs, culture and fellowship of their hometowns. Chapter after chapter of their stories paint an indelible picture of the city's development and prosperity. Collecting and studying these narratives from Hong Kong's history, steeped in memories of the people's hometowns, can help enhance participants' interest in learning and understanding history.
