Jinmotang Calligraphy Research Foundation Travel Scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of the Jinmotang Calligraphy Research Foundation we are able to offer a limited number of grants to enable conservation and museum professionals from China to attend the Symposium with a view to promoting international exchange and cooperation in the field of Chinese textile heritage.

The Scholarship is open to applicants who are:

Conservators, scientists, researchers or museum professionals engaged in preservation, conservation or analysis of textiles/thangkas
Currently employed full time in a museum, heritage organization or research institution
Residents of mainland China, Taiwan or Macao.



Successful applicants will be awarded a grant up to HK$2,700, HK$3,500 or HK$5,000 each, depending on the region of her/his working institution, as specified in the guidelines in the application form.


Selection Criteria
Assessment will be based on the following criteria:

Relevance of the symposium theme to the applicant's day to day work
Applicant's current involvement in and commitment to textiles conservation
Potential benefit to her/his career and heritage conservation in her/his country
Applicant's background, working experience and achievements.


Successful applicants are required to:

Provide documentary proofs of their trips (e.g. booking of air tickets, hotel confirmation or equivalent) one month before the symposium, as well as to attend the symposium in full and in person to receive the fund
Successful applicants will have to submit a short report on their event participation by end 2017, which may be published as well as retained by Jinmotang Calligraphy Research Foundation.
