Daily necessities contain their usefulness, which probably also carry their artistic symbolisms; these meanings can be derived from the habits of life, may also from the development of the community initiation. Meanings could be personal, given by the artist, or shared by the public.
From March to June 2018, participating artists and art group Daniel Knorr, Kwan Sheung Chi and Videotage were invited to use their own specialties to reveal the relationship between art and material in daily life. To reorder and redefine objects, we subverted established concepts of necessities and open new perspective in art.
The local artist Kwan Sheung Chi produced a video film ‘Travel in the Universe' at Oi!, which told a story of a man who lived on the Moon and back to his hometown — the Earth in an adventure, revealing the possibilities of construction of history and reflecting on human development. The project was divided into two parts, during the pre-exhibition period, film production process was opened for public viewing and participation; and the second part was screening and installation display.
