‘#ArtTravellers Exhibition Series I : Decoding Exotic Lands' organised by the Art Promotion Office presents artworks made by two young female artists, Eastmen Cheng and Ivy Ma, who look for ordinary and prosaic signs on their trips, exploring the uniqueness hidden within and representing an exotic landscape different from what we have perceived.

The three sets of landscape collaged by Eastman Cheng, which appear to be a balcony, a dining table and a floor lamp, are actually scenic microcosms of China, Europe and Africa, expressing her feelings and experience of different countries. Though her works may look bizarre and peculiar in form, they can inspire viewers to discover new sceneries.

Ivy Ma takes snapshots of historical signs which are not eye-catching during her trips and creates a novel landscape by magnifying, segmenting and assembling the photos. She applies geometric and linear patterns on these images with the use of gold leaf and cement. Her works invite viewers to keep critics and judgments at bay when re-decoding the exotic lands.
