Nature and art have always been closely linked. The ever-changing, visually stunning elements of nature such as silhouettes, colours, and lines, as well as its inherent life force, make it a recurring subject in painting. At the same time, artists can showcase the beauty of nature using their brushes and palettes, bringing together the natural world and their artistic skills.
Human Ip is an author and artist who has won the Youth Literary Awards in the Novel (Open) Category in the past. She has published several books and periodicals on ecology, as well as articles and illustrations in newspapers and magazines. Her botanical artwork was featured in the 2021 Hi! Flora, Fauna exhibition organized by the Art Promotion Office. In it, she created a vegetation guide map using a vivid yet subtle touch to immortalize the life of flora in the form of images. She is passionate about sharing her love for nature with the public through her texts and art. She has also dabbled in farming, worked as a wildlife guide, and participated in studies on flora and fauna. She is a true friend of nature in body and mind.
In this session of Art Talk, Ip will share with the audience her ecological landscapes that blend science and art. It will help us appreciate her botanical/zoological illustrations and the joy they bring from a wider perspective.
