Highlights and Objectives

  • A year-long training programme on drama, collective script writing and acting
  • Suitable for all P.4 to P.6 students who are interested in drama
  • Students will learn about adaptation by analysing the contents of the story and exploring how characters are depicted. The programme also comprises basic acting training for students
  • The programme comes with drama training, plot creation and an in-school finale performance

Content

This year’s project is based on the text of the well-known story The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Students will be guided to delve into the personalities, habits and values of the characters through the process drama approach. Be recreating the story and turning the ending upside down, they will produce and stage a 20-minute performance on campus. Participating students and teachers will experience the complete creative process under the guidance of professional instructors.

  • The project will run for 9 months in three phases

Event Date Activities
Phase 1:
Drama Training Workshop (9 sessions)
November 2019 to April 2020 November 2019
Theatrical Art Workshop

Students will learn about theatrical art and the different roles on the front stage and the backstage. Their potentials and creativity will be inspired through theatrical games, improvised creation and role play exercises as they experience the joy of the theatre.

December 2019 to February 2020
Character Discovery Workshop

Students will explore the personalities of the characters and consider the dramatic conflicts faced by the characters in the story. These will help enrich the contents and layers of their script.

February to April 2020
Plot Creation
Incorporating their understanding of the characters and their creativity, students will collectively create new plots and the script for their finale performance.
Phase 2:
Rehearsal (10 sessions)
April to June 2020 To rehearse and prepare for the finale performance, students will be trained on theatrical performance skills, including voicing, body language, emotion expression, etc.
Phase 3:
In-school Finale Performance (1 show)
July 2020 The finale performance, which features students’ adaptation of a classic fairy tale, will be staged on campus so that the learning outcome can be shared with more people.
