Classic Kunqu and Peking Opera, with their exciting dramas and fascinating aesthetics, have sustained through time and space to become cultural classics. The Jingkun Theatre, in collaboration with the Shandong Peking Opera Theatre and the Yantai Cultural and Arts Centre, has selected representative Peking Opera and Kunqu excerpts which cover a variety of performing styles.  Besides appreciating the provocative interpretation of the shrewish You Sanjie, the heroic demeanour of Liu Jinding and the charming innocence of Chen Xiuying, audiences will be impressed by Mi Heng's uncompromised denouncement of Cao Cao, the affectionate love tale between Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei, and how Xu Shiying teams up with the heroes of Liangshan to capture Gao Deng.  This operatic journey is a showcase of meticulously crafted characters performed with fascinating literary and martial arts skills!

Main Cast: Tang Yuen-ha, Zhou Xuefeng (Special Guest),
Li Chunyu, Sun Jialiang, Hu Yulong, Cheung Ching-man

The performance will run for about 2.5 hours including a 15-minute intermission.
Programme offerings differ by date.  With Chinese and English surtitles.

Tickets available from 15 April (Tue) at URBTIX
