Kenneth Tsang Kong and Suet Nei starred together initially as they were both under Hong Kong Film Co. Yet their onscreen partnership also extended to films by other studios. In the ‘Three Heroines', Tsang is the debonair swordsman rescued by Suet, the White Phoenix. In his search for his rescuer based on a handkerchief embroidered with a phoenix, Tsang meets the Red and Black Phoenix, and ends up fighting against the evil-doing Skeleton Sect together. The new-style action sequences designed by Tong Kai and Lau Kar-leung were refreshingly innovative as demonstrated by the sword fight scene in which Tsang and the Red Phoenix play with wine cups on their sword blades.
