Set before the days of ICAC, this gangster drama shows the high life of a respected, gentleman gangster who is forced to fight enemies coming from all sides, including a rival who wrongfully accuses him of murder. The script – co-written by star Alan Tang – is unabashedly old school, presenting a world in which dog fighting and gambling were still the main pastimes and honor among thieves still existed. It was a time when audiences could still get behind an honorable crime figure that, like Don Corleone in The Godfather, refuses to get involved in drug trafficking and values loyalty above all things.
