Before starring as the fallen gangster in Lung Kong’s Story of a Discharged Prisoner (1967), Patrick Tse Yin starred in Director Chan Man’s influential crime drama, an engrossing story about two lifelong friends on the opposite sides of the law and the woman they both fall for. Chan Man explores the gray area that lies between the criminal and the law enforcement worlds, playing up the moral dilemmas the characters face. Tse is especially impressive with a complex performance as the gangster who has been backed into a corner due to circumstances out of his control.
