Why are we launching the Charter on Swimming Pool Cleanliness?
In the past summer seasons the unwelcome discovery of stool and even vomit has resulted in the closure of pools for special cleaning. And in some of these cases, young children were involved.
The Charter on Swimming Pool Cleanliness, targeted at children under 11 and their parents, is launched to help get the message across about keeping pools clean. One of the key messages is to remind swimmers not to urinate, defecate or vomit in the pools.

What is Charter on Swimming Pool Cleanliness?
The charter, with the cartoon piglet McDull as the main character, is designed to be kept by children as a motto in the form of a bookmark/calendar card, so that children can remind themselves of the concise six-point pledge.
The poem-like pledge is:
Take a shower from head to toe Through the footbath you should go. Please make sure that you are seen Wearing only what is clean. In the water nothing spill And do not swim if you are ill.
The charter is available at all swimming pools of Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Primary schools are also
invited to participate in the scheme.
