Beijing had hosted the 13^th Paralympic Games (the Games) in September 2008, and Hong Kong had co-hosted the Equestrian Events. The Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) suggested that co-host cities should set up an Olympic Live Site for the Paralympic Games at central location during the Games to broadcast competition events of the Games on giant screens and provide the public with free sports, cultural and entertainment programmes. The objectives of setting up a Live Site were to enhance the enthusiastic and pleasant Paralympics atmosphere, to promote the Paralympic spirit and culture, and to attract active public participation.
